Marathon over...............

Well, I've finally come to the end of the marathon of recycling Christmas cards. They are all complete with inserts, matching envelopes, poly bags, labels with the greeting and price tags.

Thought I'd take a photo to show what they look like packed into a box - when you look at it like this it doesn't look much but it's certainly taken me a while to complete.

Really looking forward to making some "special" cards now for friends and family...............

Thanks for looking.

Anniversary Card

It was my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary earlier this month so I didn't post a photo of their card just in case Val saw it before hand.

The main image is from Stamps Happen "How Do I Love Thee" stamped on acetate and the sentiment is from Butterfly Kisses "Anniversary Collage" which is part of a set. The card is from an Elusive Images pack and it was finished off with matching ribbon and gems.

It's been a while since I posted but I've been busy recycling Christmas cards that were sitting in my box - I hate throwing handmade cards and some nice shop bought ones away - so I've been up to my eyes. I didn't realise just how many I had but I have just finished making 80 recycled cards; just put in all the inserts and sorted out matching envelopes and now got to put them in cello bags. Then I will be able to get on with my "proper" Christmas cards!!!! lol Definitely think I will be making a start earlier next year.................... famous last words!

Anything to do with steam trains!!!

It's my husbands birthday early next month and I was hunting round for an appropriate card to give him when I came across a topper pack with printed images of steam trains. Tony loves anything to do with steam so have made up this card for him using copper mirri card as a base and the mats for the main images - these were cut out using my nesties. What did we ever do without them? Finished off with a thin copper ribbon and some gems. Hope he likes it.

Masking samples

Club night has come around quickly this month as we have had to have it a few days earlier than normal as the hall has been booked for a harvest festival "do". Anne and I are showing the girls the masking technique and so I have made some samples.

The frog trio is a Penny Black stamp "Jump for Joy" and I love it - such a happy stamp!! The bird stamp is from Inkadinkado, the lovely teddy bear is a PSX stamp called "Fuzzy Bear" and the last one is a lady's face by 1st Class Stamps with the flower by ISC.

The other card is a stamped and watercoloured image by Stampin Up which is the homework card we set the girls.

Felting Mad!!

I spent yesterday morning making cobweb felt with my tutor Lyn Horniblow at the free machine embroidery course. It was great fun and next week we are going to be stitching onto this cobweb felt using free machine techniques and metallic threads so I am hoping for some amazing results. For those of you who have never made wet felt it is a pretty energetic process involving plastic sheets, towels, bubble wrap/raffia blinds/rolling pin and rolling your wool until it felts which is normally something like 800 rolls - so I don't think I'll be getting bingo wings any time soon!!!! lol

Here are some photos of the three pieces I made ready for completing next week.

Today I spent at a workshop doing Nuno felting which is a similar process but this time you felt onto silk scarves. It was a great day and I met up with some good friends which is always nice. It's a pretty messy business and we had puddles of water over the floor so had a constant chore of wiping up the mess with old towels before someone slipped. I was really pleased with my efforts but I will be adding beads to it and, maybe, some machine embroidery as well. I had to take three photos as it was so long and then stitched them together (in a photo editing programme - not on the sewing machine............) so hopefully you will get an idea of the finished piece although it was still wet when I took them. Our tutor was a lovely lady called Brenda Dunford and I have been on another of her workshops a while ago.

Thanks for looking.
