Christmas Card Club - Trees

A very quick post from me as I've been really busy this weekend.......you will be sad to know that our "chucking the teddy bear in a parachute off the church tower" event had to be cancelled due to RAIN....... ah well, it was nice yesterday and we were at our friends garden party in Hampshire.  Great catching up.  Anyway enough of all that.

I regularly used to join in the fun at the Christmas Card Club where a few of us gals joined together to set a challenge between ourselves every two weeks.  If you would like to join in then scroll down the right hand side of my blog page and you will see a list of the girls' names.  Just contact Margaret "Dutchess" and she'll give you all the details.

This week the challenge is "Trees" set by Granmargaret and I just had to use my Sue Wilson Christmas Tree die again.

I had a piece of coloured watercolour card in my scraps box which hadn't turned out as I wanted and thought it might come in handy for something else.  Well today is the day.  I die cut two ovals using TL Essentials ovals, one from purple card and one from gold which had been embossed and was also sitting in my bits box.  I die cut the tree and then sponged ink through whilst it was still in the die.  Added a few Liquid Pearl "drops" and a matching ribbon and here's another Christmas card done.

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Challenge # 13

Hello everyone - hope your weekend has been good weather wise.  I'm scheduling this so don't know what the score will be in the England/Italy match...............there may be an awfully lot of sore heads out there this morning.

I'm just posting this quickly as I've been cooking all morning (Saturday) preparing for our village BBQ where we cook for about 80 people!!!!  Absolutely wacked already, but it looks like the weather is being kind to us.

Anyway, onto the reason I'm here today - it's another challenge at the Christmas Card Club and the lovely Carol has set the challenge today and wants to see penguins (or other Christmas birds) on our cards.

I've used an Art Impressions stamp which doesn't appear to have a name/title but the number is UMU4170. I've stamped it onto watercolour card and watercoloured the image.........thought I'd kill two birds with one stone as it was our craft club on Wednesday and we were showing the girls various die cutting and embossing methods and also various ways to use watercolour!  The shape of the card comes via my friend Jill  and it's a really nice one.  I've die cut it using my Stampin Up Framelits and used patterned cardstock from my stash.  The sentiment is a Stampin Up one from Gifts of Christmas.  I've added some glittery fluffy stuff (don't know what else to call it!!!) and some Stickles to finish off the card.

If you'd like to join in the fun simply email Margaret (link on my side bar) to play along.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy crafting.

OHHH!!! BTW have you spotted the deliberate mistake?????  Let me know if you find it!

Christmas Card Club - Challenge # 12

Hello Everyone - apologies for not posting much these last few weeks but things have been pretty hectic here and it seems like the garden needs attention every day!!!  This warm and wet weather is brilliant for the weeds........they're growing like....well.....weeds!!! lol  Also my conservatory looked like a jungle with all the plants I have grown which definitely needed to be planted outside - Tony thought they were taking over!!!

Anyway onto my card for today's challenge over at the Christmas Card Club.  This week it's the lovely Sue who has set the challenge which is a Nativity Scene.

As soon as I had time to think about what I was going to do a little parcel slipped through my letterbox (don't you love it when that happens???) and out pops this lovely die that I'd ordered - and I got a "ding" and knew what I wanted to do.  So here is my first offering - 'cause I felt guilty not joining in the last couple of challenges I've made two cards:

I've used an Anna-Marie 7" square card blank for the base and I embossed it with my dotty Embossalicious e/f.  The nativity scene was downloaded from the internet.  I made a couple of frames using my Lil'Inkers stitched mats and layered them over the image.  I then used my gorgeous new die which is the Sweet Dixie "Star" SDD015 - isn't it lovely?  I added a thin strip of acetate and glued it behind the frames so it has movement - if you look carefully you can see that the star on the image is actually the same shape as my new die - how about that for serendipity!  The sentiment is SU Gifts of Christmas stamped using my Delicata gold ink and punched using my EK Success ticket punch.

My second card again uses an image from the internet mounted behind a frame from Spellbinders Card Creator Mystical Embrace.  This is then mounted on some dark blue mirri and then onto an embossed mat gold base.  The sentiment is from a polymer stamp set but it's got no name.  That is mounted on a banner from the Spellbinders Card Creator Tranquil Moments set.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please pop on over to see the offerings by the rest of the girls in the Christmas Card Club (links on my sidebar) - if you fancy joining in with us send an email to Margaret.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Club - Challenge #9

Back again today with my card for the Christmas Card Club which, if you remember, I made two weeks ago by mistake!!! Yet another senior moment  (or brain f**t as I saw it called recently!!! lol).

This challenge has been set by the lovely Karen P and she's asked us to make a card in black and white with one added colour.

I've used black, white and red for my card.  I've started off with an A5 top fold card blank and cut a mat slightly smaller.  I then stamped the image which is from Sheena A Little Bit Festive series Home from Home.  I added loads of Glamour Dust to denote snow and gently coloured the windows in a light red to signify a glowing fire or light.  I've matted this onto red card and used my ribbon threader punch to add some red ribbon at the bottom.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I've added some Liquid Pearls to finish off.

Thanks for stopping by - check out the other girls' creations.......the links are on my side bar.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Challenge #8

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers.  It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenge and this time it's the lovely Asha of Sunny Summer Crafts who has chosen the theme which is:

Christmas Lights (candles, fairy lights, lamps, lanterns)

Now I have been really busy this week and had to leave making this card until yesterday after I had done a few hours of gardening.........so I merrily went about making my card; one of those times I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  Finished it, photographed it, just going to schedule my post and then a niggling thought in my mind made me check again...........yep, I'd read the wrong challenge and made a card for the next challenge due on 27th April.  Soooooo, panic stations - what shall I do, help, ummmmh!!!! lol  Anyway I gathered myself and then thought about what I had, if anything, to meet this challenge and then remembered my lovely MB candles die.

So I die cut  three sets, one in gold mirri, one in red mirri and one in green bazzill cardstock.  I then die cut my shape using Spellbinders Labels 8 and die cut the candles again from the centre of the label.  I then paper pieced all the elements back into the negative shape.  The sentiment is Tattered Lace.  Tartan paper and red and gold glittery paper from my stash, borders are a MS snowflake border punch to which I've added red Liquid Pearls.  Sorry for the quality of the photo, I just couldn't seem to get a good photo with all the mirri card.

Thanks for popping by...........at least there's no rush for the next challenge; mine's already made!!! lol

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Club #7 Cute Christmas

It's time for another challenge at our Christmas Card Club and the theme for today is Cute Christmas.

For my card I decided to use my Hobby Arts "Small Parts" stamp - I think it's so cute with the polar bears and penguins.  I stamped it onto white card and then paper pieced the letters which had Diamond Glaze on them after I'd attached them to the main image.  The little colouring was done with Flexmarkers.....really just a touch of a blue grey and some yellow for feet and beaks.

I made a stepper card for a change.  Now I know these are easy to make but how often have you done one and been a fraction off with your measuring or cutting and ruined the whole thing???  So when I saw that Cheery Lyn had actually released a die that cut not only the main card but also all the panels I did a little happy dance!  I've not seen it over here and actually bought it from the States - which was probably no more expensive than if I'd bought it here.  It always amazes me that the US$ price actually turns into the same thing in £'s................hmm like over twice as expensive right?

Anyway, the main card is a red base with the panels cut from papers in my stash.  For the centre piece I embossed a piece of white card with a Cuttlebug icicle e/f and added a ribbon before adhering the main panel. The bottom has been shaped with a Fiskars border punch, as has the paper panel.

As this card also fits the Completely Christmas  Challenge #5 Anything Goes I will be entering my card there.

Thanks for dropping by - hope you're having a great weekend.

Christmas Card Club - Challenge # 6, Completely Christmas #3 and Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge March Extra

Hello everyone.  It's a brand new challenge over at the Christmas Card Club and this time it's Christine who has chosen the theme which is:

Let's see some wings (angels, fairies, birds)

Soooo, probably like some of you I have some NBUS (never before used schtuff!!!) in the Christmas department and thought I needed to use this cute stamp which is Woodware Clear Magic Christmas Hoot.

I stamped this little fella using black Memento and coloured in Flexmarkers.  He's been cut out using my Lil'Inkers Stitched Square dies.  The b/p was from my stash. I'd been using my Clearly Besotted Make a Wish dies for the card I posted yesterday and had some blanks lying around...........and what do you know - yep, the sentiments that come with this stamp set actually fit on the balloons! Lucky or what??? I added some bakers twine to the balloons and tied them together under the wings and popped them up with d/s foam pads.  The corner dies are Cheery Lyn (the die cut pieces didn't come out fully on the first pass, but thought they looked good with them in so just glued the entire corner piece to the card), the chevrons are Die-namics Chevron Stripes and the flowers are Heartfelt Creations stamps and die, gold embossed onto red vellum.  Final touches were some fluffy stuff for hat and boots and Glossy Accents for his eyes.

I'm also entering this card into the following two challenges:

Completely Christmas #3 Anything Goes and Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Club - Challenge #5 Robins

Hello everyone, it's time for another challenge for the girls in the Christmas Card Club and this time it's been set by the lovely Margaret and she has chosen ROBINS.  Come and see what I made.

I've used the robins on the Penny Black Winter Wonderland stamp set, aren't they cute?  I die cut some ivy from the Joanna Sheen Ivy Flourish die and popped it up using Pinflair on to my base.  The robins have been coloured with Flexmarkers and I added Stickles to their hats and the ivy. I shaped the robins slightly and used Pinflair to add them to the card.  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set and I added some Liquid Pearls.  The b/p is from my stash and also includes robins hopping cross the paper.

I am also entering this into Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - Anything Goes and into the brand new Completely Christmas Challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope you're having a great weekend.

Christmas Card Club - Challenge # 4

It's time for another challenge over at the Christmas Card Club where a group of lovely ladies set each other challenges every two weeks to make sure we don't have a mad dash to make them in December!!!  If you are interested in joining us email Margaret (link on my right hand bar).  This challenge has been set by Hazel and the challenge is Snowflakes and/or all white.

Couldn't resist using this huge snowflake from Spellbinders which is a cut and fold shapeability. I didn't have any white glitter card so after I'd folded it I sprayed with Stick & Spray and then added Glamour Dust. Not sure you can see that much glitter in the photos.  I used some white linen card for the card base, added the snowflake to a mat on the same white linen card and then popped it up onto the base.  The sentiment is My Sentiments Exactly! Q252-10 and is supposed to be an Innie and Outie but I decided to use both on the front. I heat embossed in silver, shaped them and used Pinflair Glue Gel to add to the card.

Thanks for dropping by.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Club Challenge #3

Hello everyone.  It's time for another challenge over at the Christmas Card Club and today's challenge has been set by the lovely Mary.  She's chosen "feature a heart/the colour red".

Here's my take on the challenge:

I've chosen a digi image from Make it Crafty - I just love this little guy don't you?  He's been printed out and then die cut using Lil'Inkers Stitched Circles dies which I've been hankering after for quite some time now!!! lol  Matted onto a matching red circle.  I then took a 6" square red card and folded back the front to create a "z" card.  I matted some Christmas d/p snippets onto white card stock and the inside panel has been punched using a Martha Stewart punch.

The hearts were diecut using Spellbinders dies and I punched a hole in the largest to add a silver bell mirroring the cute little guy's hat.  The sentiment is from JustRite Merry and Bright stamp set and I used my Stampin Up circle and scalloped circle punches.

Why don't you pop on over to the rest of the girls blogs (see my side bar for their links) to see what they came up with.

Thanks to my friend Kate I am also entering this into the Winter Wonderland challenge which is Digi Days.

Happy crafting.

Christmas Card Club Challenge #2

Hello everyone.  I've been lucky enough to be invited to join in with the challenges at the Christmas Card Club which is made up of some lovely ladies (see details to the right) who wanted to make Christmas cards throughout the year.  I definitely need an impetus otherwise I end up panicing at the last minute - so here is my card for my first challenge which is "Cooking up a storm - anything to do with food".

I actually don't have much in the way of Christmas food but came across this cute Forever Friends stamp of teddies making the Christmas cake.  I stamped in Memento black ink and coloured with Flexmarkers.  Die cuts are Spellbinders Labels 28 and I've used Papermania b/p from my stash.  The sentiment is computer generated.  The felt holly flowers were a freebie gift in with a recent order from someone in America.  I've added a couple of pompoms to the hats and some Stickles glitter across the fur borders.

Hazel over at Craftyhazelnuts (fabulous name for a blog!!!) also has a Christmas card challenge on which runs for the month of January so I am entering my card into that as well.

Thanks so much for popping by - I really enjoy reading all your comments.

Happy crafting.
