Apertures and Starlight, Starbright

This week's challenge over at Bah! Humbug! is apertures and over at Die Cut Dreams it is starlight, starbright.  As I'm desperately trying to sort out my craft room and moving books to our new bookcase I thought I would cover both challenges in one card.

I have taken an 8x8" scalloped card and covered with paper from Dovecraft Let it Snow series.  I then positioned one of my grand nesties (Labels 1) on the front and put it through my JT machine.  The paper I have used for the front of the card is double sided so I cut a frame using the same nesties but turned the paper over to use the plain back as it was a perfect match for the patterned side.  I layered some acetate over the frame and glued it down and then put shaker tape around the back of the frame ready for putting it over the aperture.  The image is from a stamp set by Debbi Moore and has been coloured in with Promarkers and Diamond Sparkles used for the fluffy bits on the dresses/shoes and also the stars.  I then punched out stars of various sizes from red, green and gold mirri to put as the "shaker" element of the card and placed the acetate and frame over the top.  The sentiment is from a clear stamp set by Dovecraft and has been embossed using detail gold e/p.  The snowflakes are made using a die called Winter's Jewel 1 from Whimsy Stamps.  The border has been made using a Martha Stewart edge punch.  I then added a few gems to finish off.

Lili of the Valley Challenge 77 – a sketch by Dena

The challenge over at Lili of the Valley is a sketch challenge.

I have used a LOTV stamp depicting a girl putting the star on top of the Christmas tree.  I embossed the image with a WOW copper glitter and then coloured with ProMarkers.  A little bling has been added using Diamond Sparkles.  The image was cut out using a nestie and matted onto a copper fabric card.  The backing paper is from my stash and I cut two pieces of copper mirri as borders and they were edged with copper peel offs.  The sentiment is also LOTV which was cut and mounted using Stampin Up punches.  I added some gems and a paper flower to finish.

As this will be my last posting for a few days I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.

See you in 2011!

The One I Love

This week's challenge over at Die Cut Dreams is "The One I Love".  I decided to use a digistamp and sentiment from Pollycraft which were both freebies.

I printed out the lovely penguins and sentiment on supersmooth white cardstock and the image was die cut, matted and layered using nesties.  I coloured the penguins with ProMarkers and added Diamond Sparkles for the snow and Arctic White Flowersoft on their hats.  The backing paper is from a Papermania set.  The snowflake borders are made using a Martha Stewart punch.  I die cut the sentiment using a Sizzix die and added some gems and ribbon as a finishing touch.

Thanks for looking.

Children's Christmas

The challenge this week over at Die Cut Dreams is children's Christmas.

I have used a snowman digistamp from Inger Harding which was a freebie.  Printed out onto super smooth printer card and coloured using ProMarkers.  I printed out three images and stacked using nesties.  They are then mounted onto blue mirri.  I have made an easel card using a square card blank, covered with 12x12" paper I bought from Lidl's a few weeks ago - it's amazing what you can find there!!  With the help of some silicone glue and Diamond Sparkles he (hopefully) looks like he's sitting on snow.  I added some ribbon and a snowman charm and finished off with a sentiment that was computer generated.

Thanks for looking.

Die Cut Dreams "Beary" Christmas challenge

This week over at Die Cut Dreams their challenge is "beary" Christmas.  I have been wanting to use this digistamp from Prairie Fairy Designs for a while and it just fits this challenge beautifully.

The image was printed out onto super smooth card, coloured with ProMarkers and then I added some Diamond Sparkles for a bit of "bling".  Image was edged with silver ink and matted onto navy card which was again edged.  The DL card is covered with navy and silver embossed holly card from my stash.  An organza ribbon bow and peel off sentiment added to finish it off.
