Christmas Card Club #7 Cute Christmas

It's time for another challenge at our Christmas Card Club and the theme for today is Cute Christmas.

For my card I decided to use my Hobby Arts "Small Parts" stamp - I think it's so cute with the polar bears and penguins.  I stamped it onto white card and then paper pieced the letters which had Diamond Glaze on them after I'd attached them to the main image.  The little colouring was done with Flexmarkers.....really just a touch of a blue grey and some yellow for feet and beaks.

I made a stepper card for a change.  Now I know these are easy to make but how often have you done one and been a fraction off with your measuring or cutting and ruined the whole thing???  So when I saw that Cheery Lyn had actually released a die that cut not only the main card but also all the panels I did a little happy dance!  I've not seen it over here and actually bought it from the States - which was probably no more expensive than if I'd bought it here.  It always amazes me that the US$ price actually turns into the same thing in £'s................hmm like over twice as expensive right?

Anyway, the main card is a red base with the panels cut from papers in my stash.  For the centre piece I embossed a piece of white card with a Cuttlebug icicle e/f and added a ribbon before adhering the main panel. The bottom has been shaped with a Fiskars border punch, as has the paper panel.

As this card also fits the Completely Christmas  Challenge #5 Anything Goes I will be entering my card there.

Thanks for dropping by - hope you're having a great weekend.

Addicted to CAS - Challenge #35

Happy Saturday to you all

It's time for another new challenge at Addicted to CAS and your hostess for this is the "uber" talented Sylvia of Poppy's Papercraft Patch

She has chosen your code word for this challenge and it is:

Our Sponsor for this challenge is:

The prize will be a pack of her rubber stamps called "It's all about You".

I decided to use some NBUS (Never-Before-Used Schtuff) in the form of a Joanna Sheen Motorbike Signature die.  I cut it out twice, once on silver mirri and once on black shiny cardstock.  I put these together but offset them so you can see the silver mirri at the back of the bike and also to give it some dimension.  The sentiment is computer generated (thought it gave the impression of speed???) and cut using an EK Success label punch and I've attached it to the bike with some bakers twine making it look like it's being pulled along behind (it's popped up on a couple of foam pads).  I used a Fiskars border punch on the edge of the card with a touch of red behind and three red gems.

Thanks so much for popping by - don't forget to visit the Addicted to CAS challenge blog to see what inspiration the other DT members have made for you.

Happy crafting.

Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club challenge

This week over at Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club blog the challenge is to make a Baby's 1st Christmas card.

The image is taken from Joanna Sheen's Precious Petals CD and printed out onto satin photo paper. It has been mounted onto some red mirri which, in turn, has been mounted onto some Anna Griffin cardstock I've had in my stash for ages. I used my Fiskars ribbon edge punch down the left hand side and threaded through some ribbon and tied it in a bow in the centre. The red backing paper is from my stash and put through my Big Shot in a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The sentiment is also from the JS Precious Petals CD. I didn't think it needed much embellishment as the face speaks volumes!!!! lol

Thanks for looking.

Silhouettes

This weeks challenge at Bah Humbug is silhouettes so I was thinking of using an image from Joanna Sheen's Dancing with Shadows CD but my friend Anne beat me to it!!! So I had to get my thinking cap on. Did a bit of a trawl on the internet but didn't come up with anything I liked so went through my Christmas stamp box and found a Creative Expressions set which has silhouette images on it.

I have used a square white base card and covered it with a black and silver backing paper from my stash, added a piece of vellum across the centre which was punched using my Fiskars border punch. I added a ribbon across the vellum. The robin image was stamped in black and clear embossed, as was the Merry Christmas sentiment around it. They were both cut out using Nesties circles dies and then mounted onto black mirri card cut using a Nellies die. I had a flourish die and cut two from black mirri but they were too big for the corners so I cut off the "swirls" which I then used at the bottom left and top right of the vellum. The addition of some gems finished the card off.

Thanks for looking.

Club Night samples

On Wednesday evening we had our monthly club night and did two projects. The first one was tri-shutter cards and the second was puffy boxes.

The shutter cards are fun to do and all the girls enjoyed them. We actually had a challenge at the start of the evening to show all our club members how easy it is if you have the right equipment. The challenge was to see how long it would take Anne, Jan and I to make a shutter card by cutting down a 12x12" sheet to 12" x 5 1/2", then cut two slits 1 1/2" in from each long side from 2" down to the 10" mark and finally to score the card at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Anne had her trust Fiskars cutter, Jan only had a cutting mat, ruler and craft knife and I had my fabulous Scor-Pal (which I wouldn't be without). I think it actually took me about 20/30 seconds, Anne was quite far behind and poor Jan had virtually not even started!!!! It was good to show the girls how easy things can be with the right equipment.

The second project was making a puffy box using a CD as a template. These are lovely little boxes. The box on the right hand side of the photo had a flower made out of five pieces of card that were cut out using my Stampin Up scalloped circle punch, cutting about 1/2" in from the side of each scallop, wetting the card and scrunching them and then securing with a brad. Once they are secured you just tease them into the shape you want and leave to dry - it's interesting to see how much they hold their shape and just how firm they are when dry.
