Get Creative Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday to all.  I thought I'd join in the Get Creative challenge this week which is:

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do - isn't it weird how that happens sometimes?  Mind you I have been putting off the renowned LIM challenge as there is just TOO MUCH CHOICE!!!  lol  Anyway for my card I have used the Whimsy Stamp set Film Strip Sentiments and the matching film strip die.  I've used a blank DL card, top fold, and a piece of red card which I've put though my Joy in a Cuttlebug Wicker Weave embossing folder (had to match up and put through again as the size of card was bigger than the e/f).  I then cut a strip of white card and did the same.  These were adhered to the base card after inking round with a gold pen and attaching some ribbon.  I've gold embossed the centre sentiment onto red card and clear embossed the two film strips on each side stamping in Versamark Black ink.  I then stamped the heart and star onto these strips using Barn Door DI and clear embossing.  I then die cut the three elements.  These were then popped up on d/s foam and I've added four gems to the centre panel.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Less is More - Week 85 - Theme

Hi Guys - I know this is two posts in one day which is really unusual for me!!!  lol  but I've just managed to get my entry done for the Less is More challenge this week which is:

For our theme this week we have a really easy project for you... simply incorporate an
OVAL
into your design somewhere... what could be easier?

So there we have it - OVALS...... what could be more simpler than that eh?  Well, like all simple things they ain't always easy!  In the end I've used my Spellbinders Beaded Ovals and Fancy Tags dies.  After die cutting them I sponged Brushed Corduroy DI on the tag and stamped the sentiment with the same ink - sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.  A little ribbon bow on each side and some Liquid Pearls finished the card.  A 5 minute job????  Heck no........ lol

Thanks for popping over to visit me and I look forward to repaying the compliment.

A quick addendum.......thanks to my blogging buddy Darnell (or Dippy as I call her!!!  lol) for suggesting I enter this into the CASology challenge this week which is WHITE.  Do pop over as there are some gorgeous creations for your delectation.

18th card for a girl

Well, here's the second in the long running saga of the 18th birthday cards.  I've used a template for an 18th word book.   I was told that this girl was interested in drama and art so I had to have a look round the internet for suitable images.  The artist on the first page is Little Artist by Whimsy Stamps, the girl shopping is Lydia does Shopping by Little Claire (which was a free download) and the Drama Queen on the end is from Tiddly Inks Digital.  There is a variety of embellishments which were all from my stash or die cut elements.  Here's the matching box:

Bah Humbug Challenge 37 - Swirls & Flourishes

This weeks challenge over at Humbug Towers is Swirls & Flourishes.  I decided to use one of my new Me to You Winter Wonderland stamp set as I think these images are so cute.  Stamped in Memento and coloured in with Letraset Fleximarkers which are brilliant.  I do love my Promarkers and Tria pens but love the brush tip on the Fleximarkers.  Can't wait til they bring out new colours to add to the range.  I've used my nesties to die cut the image and mat.  The backing paper is from my stash.  I put a piece of silver mat card in an embossing folder (swirls) and ran it through my Joy Trouvaille, rounded the corners and added a pink spotty ribbon.  The main image was layered on top.  I have used a Marianne Flourish, Stampin Up sentiment (cut using SU circle and scalloped circle punches) and added a piece of ribbon to this.  The snowflake is a Whimsy Stamps die and this was a strange bit of serendipity.  I wanted to cut the snowflake out of glittered paper but thought it would be too thin and might tear, so placed it on a piece of the pink card and ran it through my Joy.  When it came out the other side it had sort of welded both pieces together which was quite a nice effect so I left it.  I added some Embellishment Attic Snow for Tatty Ted to stand on.

Thanks for dropping by.

Die Cut Dreams - Red, White & Blue

The latest challenge over at Die Cut Dreams is Red. White and Blue.  I have chosen a digi image for this which is called MotoDog and it was a freebie from Bird.  It's been coloured with ProMarkers and Diamond Glaze used on the metallic elements of the bike and his helmet etc.  The image and mat have been cut out using nesties.  The papers were free with a magazine and I've added a ribbon border.  The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps and is called Film Strip Sentiments and the die used to cut out the film strip was also from Whimsy Stamps.  The roses were made using a die and the blue fern leaves were punched out.

Bah Humbug Challenge 19 - Snowflakes

This week's challenge over at Humbug Hall  is Snowflakes.

I downloaded some background designs from Kim over at KL Dezigns and one of them was a lovely snowflake design so I decided to use this.  It's been printed out onto matt photo paper and backed onto an A5 card blank.  I then die cut some snowflakes out of acetate using the Whimsy Stamps Shapeology die which I then glittered and used silicone to place over some of the printed snowflakes.  I used Stickles to add some texture to the dots and added a ribbon across the top of the card.  The greeting is from a Creative Expressions sentiment stamp set and was stamped and heat embossed onto acetate.

Boys & Girls come out to play

Challenge number 6 over at Do It With Digi's is Boys & Girls come out to play.

I decided to use this digi stamp from Di's Digi's which was a freebie.  Coloured with Promarkers and die cut using nesties and mounted on a piece of sage green Bazzill card.  I decided to make it up into a twisted easel so I scored and folded the top flap of a 6" square card diagonally.  This is covered with some paper I had in my stash and I used the remainder on the inside and created a border out of pink bazzill using a Martha Stewart punch.  The pinwheel flower was created using the new Tim Holtz die.  The sentiment has been die cut using Whimsy Stamps ticket die and sponged with a pink chalk inkpad.  The addition of some flowers and a parchment butterfly completed the card.

Apertures and Starlight, Starbright

This week's challenge over at Bah! Humbug! is apertures and over at Die Cut Dreams it is starlight, starbright.  As I'm desperately trying to sort out my craft room and moving books to our new bookcase I thought I would cover both challenges in one card.

I have taken an 8x8" scalloped card and covered with paper from Dovecraft Let it Snow series.  I then positioned one of my grand nesties (Labels 1) on the front and put it through my JT machine.  The paper I have used for the front of the card is double sided so I cut a frame using the same nesties but turned the paper over to use the plain back as it was a perfect match for the patterned side.  I layered some acetate over the frame and glued it down and then put shaker tape around the back of the frame ready for putting it over the aperture.  The image is from a stamp set by Debbi Moore and has been coloured in with Promarkers and Diamond Sparkles used for the fluffy bits on the dresses/shoes and also the stars.  I then punched out stars of various sizes from red, green and gold mirri to put as the "shaker" element of the card and placed the acetate and frame over the top.  The sentiment is from a clear stamp set by Dovecraft and has been embossed using detail gold e/p.  The snowflakes are made using a die called Winter's Jewel 1 from Whimsy Stamps.  The border has been made using a Martha Stewart edge punch.  I then added a few gems to finish off.

I'm Dreaming...............

This week's challenge over at Die Cut Dreams is I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas and the inspiration for this card came from a recycled Christmas card I had sitting on my desk.  I thought it was a lovely image and I used my nesties to make a pyramage of the image.  This was mounted onto silver and black card which had a fancy edge created with a MS punch Cherish.  Backing paper was from my stash and again has a punched border.  The snowflake was die cut using my fantastic new die from Whimsy Stamps - which I think is the most delicate die cut that I've seen.  The sentiment was computer generated to fit my Stampin Up round and scalloped punches.  The wavy line sentiment was also computer generated and cut out with peel offs disguising any bad edges!!!   lol
