Cheering up a friend

We've just heard that one of our friends, Rose, who is also a member of our craft club had a nasty accident and broke her ankle. She had to have an operation to insert plates and is feeling pretty down in the mouth; especially as it means she can't come with us to the craft show at Farnborough on Friday :o( I was going to make her a pretty card but then thought I would rather make her giggle so I found this clip art on the internet and decoupaged it. Hope she enjoys it and is feeling better soon.

Autumn Trees

Well I must stop making these - they are becoming addictive!!!! My friend Anne gave me a bag of bits the other day and amongst them was a length of hessian and I wondered whether I would be able to use it for this drawn thread work. As you can see it turned out fine - I was really pleased with the colours on this one. Again, this is a variation on the "Enchanted Woods" kit by Tracy Curtis.

Eye Candy from Elusive Images

Have just seen the most amazing new themeplates released by Elusive Images. Click the link to go over and have a look. Will have to start saving my pennies for these two lovelies:

Dandelion Clock

I made this free machine embroidered and silk painting a while ago for someone very special. It was done whilst I was on a one day workshop in Charmouth with Tracy Curtis who is a brilliant tutor. She provides everything in the way of silk, paints etc and you just have to take your sewing machine. Definitely recommended!!

Free Standing Pop Up Valentine Card

Well, the weather is still miserable so decided to stay in and craft (definitely not a difficult decision!!!!!). For our club night on Wednesday we always set "homework" the month before and the girls are due to bring in a Valentine's card this month. Suddenly realised I hadn't done mine so set about making this free standing pop up card using SU Totally Tabs stamps and punch, One of a Kind stamps and Boho Blossoms punch. It actually lays down flat for posting so is quite handy.

Serendipity Moment!!!

Well, this is exactly what I mean by "Serendipity". I was playing with some cotton scrim and my sewing machine and all of a sudden I had some flower heads; so I just had to use them!!! They are sewn onto an embellished fibre background and have french knots as stamens and beads in the centre and the outside "frame" is a ribbon belt that came with a cardigan - at the time I thought that I would be able to use it for something else.................. and it came in very handy!

SU Slider Card

I have just finished a slider card using a template from Jenny, our lovely Stamping Up demonstrator, and some SU stamps and punches recently purchased after Jenny came to our Club for a demonstration evening. Anne and I are going to be doing this project with the girls in the Club in about 10 days time so I need to get on and make some more samples!!

Winter Wonderland

Well, we woke up in Somerset with this lovely view from our windows. It's the most snow we have seen for an awfully long time and reasonably unheard of in Somerset. Lovely to look at but think I will stay in the warm and craft!!!

Reflections

This is a free machine embroidered and embellished piece of drawn thread work. It's only the second piece I have done like this but really had fun doing it. The background is a piece of painted silk. Again, a variation on the "Enchanted Woods" kit by Tracy Curtis.

65th Word Album

I've just finished making this word album for a friend whose 65th birthday it is next week - hope she likes it!!

Embellished ATCs

Crafty Individuals had a competition going to create an ATC using either their stamps or images and I had lots of fun creating these three ATC's using my new embellisher machine.

Enchanted Woods

This is the first piece of drawn thread work I have attempted using free machine embroidery, an embellisher machine and silk painting behind. There are also beads sewn into the tree tops and french knots embroidered at the base of the trees. This was made up from a kit entitled "Enchanted Woods" which was purchased as a Christmas present for me from Tracy Curtis.
