Another mixed media project.........

Hi Everyone

Well I'm not sure what the weather's doing with you but this morning in Somerset we had gale force winds and torrential rain.........and this afternoon all is calm and the sun's been out!!!

Here I am back with another mixed media project and I'm still on the blue and silver theme.  Now I've been racking my brains for a little while as I needed to make a birthday card for a man........who just happens to be my best friend and also my husband!  And to top it off it's his 70th birthday on Monday.........how did that happen?  I should tell you he's much older than me......lol!  I have no problem, like many of you, making special cards for ladies but when it comes to men and for such a special birthday I wanted to do something a little "off piste".  So when I saw a sweet little MDF bird house inspiration struck.  Tony loves his birds (feathered variety!!!), and we get loads of different varieties in the garden and around, which is probably because Tony feeds them every day - think he spends more on them than I do on our food!!!

I am also going to enter this in the new Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge which is to use a tag........I'm hoping they will forgive me for the bird house, but there is a tag on the back of it.

Anyway, here is my bird house - I've not gone into the details of what I've used and how as I think it's pretty self explanatory.  Really just lots of stuff I had in my stash already.  If you've got any questions just drop me a line and I'll get back to you.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Happy crafting.

Just us Girls #311 Colour Week

Hi Everyone

A quick card here to enter into the Just us Girls Challenge #311 which is colour week:

Here's what I came up with:

I didn't want to go down the autumn route so decided to use these lovely tulips from Clearly Besotted Friends Forever and one of their sentiments from the same set.  I then coloured in with my Akashiya Sai Watercolour Brush Pens.  I die cut the image with my Creative Expressions Pierced Rectangles dies.  Layered up on red card and then onto the base card.  It looked a little plain so I used my stitched hillside from Lawn Fawn and then added a piece of red card at the bottom.

Thanks for dropping by.

Have a great weekend.

Happy crafting.

Another Twofer.......... Less is More Week 230 Sketch challenge

Well it's a different story today........a lot cooler and rain most of the day although it's cleared up now and the sun is out - and everything is steaming!  Can't please everyone eh? lol

Thought I might miss out on joining in the fun over at Less is More where the current challenge is a sketch:

The twofer is because I'm mean............well, I die cut two apertures out of a piece of cardstock so I could use the negative shapes and then thought well I might as well use the two shapes to make another card.  So here they are:

For the first one I diecut the two apertures using Die-namics pierced rectangles and used a snippet of d/p from my stash behind the largest aperture.  The sentiment is Heartfelt Creations.  I finished off by punching the bird and branch out of the same d/p using SU build a bird punch.

The second card used the two positive shapes which I was left with and I've used my SU Timeless Love stamp set - main image for the top with the corner stamped image fussy cut.  Coloured with Akashiya Sai Watercolour Brush Pens and added some gold Wink of Stella to the centre of the flowers.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I've added a punched butterfly - it wasn't my intention but I got an ink splat on the sentiment topper and I thought it balanced everything out - phew!  The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug e/f.

A warm welcome to new follower Hazel.

Thanks for dropping by.

Happy crafting.

HLS April Sketch Challenge & Craft Stamper Take it Make it April Challenge

Happy Easter everyone - hope you are all enjoying the long Easter weekend and maybe indulging in a little chocolate???? lol

I'm joining in the HLS April Sketch challenge which is shown below:

and I'm also joining in with the Craft Stamper Take it Make it challenge.  The requirements are:

As you might remember, this year our challenge is alternating between 'Take A Stamp', and 'Take A Technique'....and this month our challenge is 'Take A Technique'!
Well, not so much a technique as a theme.... this month we want you to go all out with the colour!

April Challenge:
'Take A Technique: Colour'

and here is my card:

I used a water brush to wet an area of watercolour card and then used my Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pens to add random colour.  This was then cut out using my Die-namics Banner dies - I chose the largest which was too long but as I wanted an oblong shape rather than a banner this was perfect.  I passed it through my BS and then turned the die around and placed it on the uncut end of watercolour card to get a long oblong shape.  The greeting is die cut using my Winnie & Walter "In a Word: Happy Cutaway" using black mirri card which was then popped up on d/s foam squares.  The "birthday" was stamped in VersaFine black and is from Waltzingmouse Stamps WMS IC3 set.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Happy crafting.

DJKardkreations, Less is More, Happy Little Stampers, Just Us Girls & Time Out!!!

Hope you're all having a great weekend.  The sun is shining down here in Somerset which is lovely.

My great friend Darnell has a NBUS challenge on her blog (acronym for "never-before-used schtuff"),  Less is More have a CASE a DT card, Happy Little Stampers have a sketch challenge, Just Us Girls have a colour challenge - black, white and a colour of your choice and lastly TIME OUT also has a black, white and a splash of one colour challenge.........so I'm entering my card into all of these challenges.  Whoopie - 5 in one go!

First of all I've used my new stamp set SU Big Day which was a freebie with my last order - so that's the NBUS bit; I chose to CASE Chrissie's card which is black, white and red (see below);  Happy Little Stampers sketch is below as are details of Just Us Girls and the TIME OUT challenge is:

Clean and Simple

 with the optional twist of:

Black and White plus a Splash of One Colour.

And here is my card:

A very simple card to make.  I stamped the cake three times across the bottom of the card and coloured the centre cake and the flames with my Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pens.  I then die cut the piece using my Lil'Inker stitched dies.  The sentiment was stamped and the "cake" coloured to match the rest of the card and then cut out and mounted on foam pads.  And that was it - very quick and simple.

Thanks for dropping in today.  Please pop on over to the blogs to see all the challenges and maybe join in the fun.

Happy crafting.
