Christmas Card Club - Trees

A very quick post from me as I've been really busy this weekend.......you will be sad to know that our "chucking the teddy bear in a parachute off the church tower" event had to be cancelled due to RAIN....... ah well, it was nice yesterday and we were at our friends garden party in Hampshire.  Great catching up.  Anyway enough of all that.

I regularly used to join in the fun at the Christmas Card Club where a few of us gals joined together to set a challenge between ourselves every two weeks.  If you would like to join in then scroll down the right hand side of my blog page and you will see a list of the girls' names.  Just contact Margaret "Dutchess" and she'll give you all the details.

This week the challenge is "Trees" set by Granmargaret and I just had to use my Sue Wilson Christmas Tree die again.

I had a piece of coloured watercolour card in my scraps box which hadn't turned out as I wanted and thought it might come in handy for something else.  Well today is the day.  I die cut two ovals using TL Essentials ovals, one from purple card and one from gold which had been embossed and was also sitting in my bits box.  I die cut the tree and then sponged ink through whilst it was still in the die.  Added a few Liquid Pearl "drops" and a matching ribbon and here's another Christmas card done.

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

Happy crafting.

HLS Christmas in July challenge

Hi Everyone - well the weather has changed again - hot and sunny here in Somerset today........and a little noisy with lots of aircraft buzzing us on the way to the air show at Yeovilton on Saturday.  We've seen some strange and wonderful things going over as well!!!

Anyway, over at Happy Little Stampers new challenge Christmas in July the theme word is TREE and as I'd just received my new Sue Wilson Christmas Tree Greeting die I decided to use that.  I've just realized that the HLS July sketch challenge is a TREE!!!  How good is that?  Plus over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra which is "anything goes".

First I took some linen white card and die cut the Christmas tree out from the centre which left me with an aperture and the die cut.  I left the card in the die and sponged some green ink through.  I then die cut three more trees and glued all four together.  I matted my linen card with some matt gold cardstock which I'd added a fancy edge to using Lawn Fawn stitched hillsides die to add some interest.  I added my Christmas tree back in the aperture and added a gold bow.

I'm also entering this into Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge where the challenge is use a sentiment.....well I hope I qualify with my five Christmas words.

Thanks for dropping by - hope you're all having the same good weather......fingers crossed it lasts through the weekend as we've got a garden party to go to on Saturday and a teddy with parachute being pushed off the church tower event (don't ask........!) on Sunday.

I'd like to wish Hazel a warm welcome and thank you for joining my happy band of followers.

Happy crafting.

Chuffed to bits..............

Hi folks, just popping by on a very hot and sunny day in Somerset to let you know that I was contacted by Ina of Just us Girls saying I'd won their Chic of the Week for this card that I entered into their Autumn Colours challenge.  I was absolutely over the moon to hear the news and you can see my badge on the right of this column.

Haven't got a card for you today as I've been busy cutting hedges................... but hope to be back soon with a challenge card or two.

Happy crafting.

Another Twofer.......... Less is More Week 230 Sketch challenge

Well it's a different story today........a lot cooler and rain most of the day although it's cleared up now and the sun is out - and everything is steaming!  Can't please everyone eh? lol

Thought I might miss out on joining in the fun over at Less is More where the current challenge is a sketch:

The twofer is because I'm mean............well, I die cut two apertures out of a piece of cardstock so I could use the negative shapes and then thought well I might as well use the two shapes to make another card.  So here they are:

For the first one I diecut the two apertures using Die-namics pierced rectangles and used a snippet of d/p from my stash behind the largest aperture.  The sentiment is Heartfelt Creations.  I finished off by punching the bird and branch out of the same d/p using SU build a bird punch.

The second card used the two positive shapes which I was left with and I've used my SU Timeless Love stamp set - main image for the top with the corner stamped image fussy cut.  Coloured with Akashiya Sai Watercolour Brush Pens and added some gold Wink of Stella to the centre of the flowers.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I've added a punched butterfly - it wasn't my intention but I got an ink splat on the sentiment topper and I thought it balanced everything out - phew!  The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug e/f.

A warm welcome to new follower Hazel.

Thanks for dropping by.
