Bah Humbug - Challenge 33 - Something new

This week Ann and Max over at Humbug Hall have asked us to make a Christmas card using something new.  As I had recently bought this lovely stencil from Dreamweaver I thought it was about time I used it.  I taped it onto black card using low tack masking tape and then spread embossing paste through.  I carefully lifted up the stencil and then sprinkled it with Art Glitter from the Monochromatic Brown set.  I left it to dry thoroughly and then brushed off the excess glitter (most of which attached itself to me!!!  lol).  I mounted this onto copper mirri and punched the corners with my SU ticket punch.  I then found the backing paper in my stash which went perfectly with the image.  The black border is a Martha Stewart edge punch with some copper ribbon underneath.  The corners have been punched using an EK Success photo corner punch.  The sentiment is from my SU Contempo Christmas set and fitted perfectly into my EK Success ticket punch.

Thanks for dropping in.

Using Stencils

The folk over at Bah! Humbug! have set us a challenge card this week using stencils.

For this card I started off with a brass stencil with the word NOEL - I thought I'd using it slightly differently so got out my gold embossing paste which was spread evenly over the stencil.  I've often found that the stencils are slightly warped/bent so you tend to get paste under the stencil; but this time I used some Crafters' Companion Stick & Spray as a temporary adhesive on the back and it worked very well, keeping the stencil very flat to the card.  Removed the stencil immediately so I could wash it and let the paste dry.  I then trimmed the image and matted onto gold linen card.  I then took another stencil (Imagination Crafts) and laid it down on card and spritzed over the top with  Moon Glow.  This was matted onto white pearl card.  I took an 8x8" blank card and cut some gold linen card to size and used my Martha Stewart punch to cut out the snowflake border; these were attached to the base card.  I attached two pieces of gold ribbon to the spritzed background, used foam squares to attach the NOEL panel and then cut out some more snowflakes using a nesties die.  When the card was assembled I added some gems for that extra bit of "bling".

Thanks for looking.

Bah Humbug!!!! Stitching challenge

I've been playing about trying to complete the Bah Humbug!!! latest challenge which is stitching. I took a base A5 card and cut a piece of SU green card to use as a mat. I then cut a piece of card from My Mind's Eye Christmas Glitter Book. I used a zigzag stitch in red thread to mount one on top of the other, sewed a snowflake design all the way round the card and stitched circles around some of the holly berries.

I cut a piece of pewter to size and put it through my Big Shot with a Dreamweaver's stencil - as the pewter is so soft it really embossed it very well. I zigzagged around the pewter in red thread and mounted this on the main card using silicone glue. Finally I put some Stickles in the centre of the holly berries and also on the snowflake and used a Copic pen to highlight the N, E and L. I had a small piece of pewter left over which I had trimmed from the main piece and couldn't resist winding it round a skewer to curl it and add it to the top left corner.

Thanks for looking.
