House-Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge 141 - EASTER

I often look at the challenges over at House-Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge and decided this was one I just had to enter.  I am always in awe of my blogger buddy Kate's creations and this week is no exception.  This is what they had to say:

*NEW CHALLENGE *
Our super talented Teamie Lori Barnett, is hosting this new Challenge and chose...

*** E a s t e r ***

Include something that relates to Easter somewhere on your project. ie., Bunny, Chick, Egg, Jelly Beans, Cross, Easter paper, Easter colors, a sentiment....Anything that relates to Easter as long as you use a House-Mouse, Gruffies and, or, Happy Hoppers image.

Hurry and Play along for your great chance to win some fabulous prizes!

For my card I've used a HM image which I think is called I'll get it - so cute with the tiddler running on behind waiting to catch the egg.  I decided to decoupage the image to give it dimension and added  Crystal Lacquer on the eggs and their eyes, noses etc.  I die cut the image using my Spellbinders Marvellous Squares and mounted it on an Eyelet Square die cut which I had threaded ribbon through.  This in turn was laid on a square of card which had been embossed with the SU honeycomb e/f.  I added some lace around this last layer.  The base card is 8x8 and I've added a layer of Anna-Marie's gingham paper.  The fancy elements are from the Venetian Accents set and I've then added flowers and gems from my stash.  The sentiment is a very old one which doesn't have a makers name on it.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope you all have a wonderful Easter break and don't eat too many eggs!!!  lol

Less is More - Week 112 Recipe

Hi everyone - hope you all had a good weekend.

There's a new challenge over at Less is More and this week it is a recipe challenge.  Here's what the girls say:

This week may be a little more challenging but we know you will come up with some fabulous ideas.  The recipe this week is...
USE BEADS
We want to see beads somewhere dotted around on your creations this week .

For my card I decided that the focus would be the beads so I started to sort through my stash to see what I had.  I found some lovely amethyst coloured beads and an idea emerged.

I got some wire and threaded my beads so they formed a flower head with a circular bead in the middle.  I needed more than one flower so decided to do more of a bud or sideways view and for this I used three of the drop beads with a circular bead in the middle.

These were then wired onto a piece of green wire and I added two green leaf beads.  I still wanted the design to be more CAS than not (!!!) so ran a piece of pearl card through my eBosser with an Embossalicious 6x6 e/f.  This was mounted onto a 6x6 card base and I used Pinflair to stick down my flower.  The sentiment is from SU Oval All and cut using my SU oval and scalloped oval punches.  So a fairly simple card but it did take more than one go at the larger flower head as the wire broke the first time...........hmmm; luckily no-one was within earshot!!!  lol

Thanks for dropping by.

White Embossing - A Day for Daisies

Just thought I'd make a quick card for the latest challenge over at A Day for Daisies which is:

To play along this week you MUST use an image by A Day For Daisies and
use an embossed white background!!!

For my card I've used the lovely digital image called "Babies Smile", coloured in Flexmarkers.  My base card has been run through my eBosser with an Embossalicious 8x8" embossing folder.  I then die cut a frame using nesties and ran that through the same folder.  The frame was popped up over the image using 3d foam tape and I've added flowers and leaves from my stash.

Hope you're all having a good weekend - it's still freezing cold down here but no snow yet!  Stay safe and stay warm.

Thanks for popping by.

Addicted of CAS - Challenge #9

Welcome to another new challenge over at Addicted to CAS

We had a wonderful response to our last challenge "Wings" and the winners will be announced on Monday afternoon (AEST). I wonder who made Florence's heart flutter???
Our challenge this week is hosted by the ever so talented Harriet!
Harriet has chosen her code word and it is -
We also have a wonderful new sponsor to introduce to you for this challenge.
It is our privilege to welcome Stephanie from

Stephanie has a wonderful prize up for grabs with this challenge! Two of her wonderful stamp sets will be given away to our CAS Perfectionist!!
Stephanie has also joined us as a guest designer with this beautiful card

Well, I'm not sure what's happened this week but I don't have one card, nor two cards but........ THREE cards for your delectation (hopefully!!! lol).  So draw up a chair, grab a cuppa and join me for a while.

The first two use images from the Clearly Besotted With Love stamp set which is one of the prizes up for grabs.  Stephanie is Queen of CAS and produces beautiful cards and I have tried to emulate her style on these two cards.  On the first one I have used a digi stamp which is a row of frogs, printed them onto a piece of card and cut to size.  I had three frogs left over from the row so fussy cut them out.  The water lily is coloured with Flexmarkers with the top layer decoupaged to give dimension.  I coloured the background with Pan Pastels, added the water lily and added two frogs on the pad.  The third frog is leaping over the lily with a coiled spring of wire.  The sentiment is computer generated and printed onto a Memory box cloud.  I added some bakers twine and popped the whole thing up onto the base card.

The second card used the flower from the same stamp set.  I used my set of Background Builder stamps and stamped the musical notes.  On top I popped the flower, again coloured with Flexmarkers with the flower decoupaged for dimension.  The sentiment is an old Anita's rubber stamp.  Again I've used bakers twine and popped the whole thing up on the base card.

My third and final card uses a Wee Stamps image called "Spring Bringer" (very apt I thought).   I've used my Spellbinders Exquisite Circles to die cut the layers and added Liquid Pearls and Stickles on her wings.  The sentiment is Stampin Up Whimsical Words stamped in SU Pink Passion.  The die cut is Spellbinders Fancy Tags.  For the embossing down the side of the card I used a Darice embossing folder called Lace, fussy cut the edge and mounted onto a piece of pink card and then added Liquid Pearls.

We are really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this challenge.  Please don't forget to pop on over to Addicted to CAS to see all the wonderful cards the DT have made for your inspiration.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - especially if you aren't snowed in, rained on or blown out (gale force winds.........what did you think I meant!!! lol)

Less is More Week 111 Theme

It's time for this week's challenge over at Less is More which is a theme - this is what the lovely ladies have said:

We have a theme for you this week.
Whilst keeping your card Clean and Simple we would like you to
Frame it!
Some part of your design should contain a frame of some description, it could be stamped, drawn,  doodled, die-cut or whatever your imagination dictates.

I've made two cards for the challenge.  For the first one I've used a Sheena Douglass A little Bit Sketchy stamp set called, appropriately enough, Poppy!  I've stamped in Memento and coloured using my Polychromos pencils.  I placed a nestie frame over the image and inked using DI Barn Door.  I then cut a die with the same nestie.  The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped using Barn Door.  Then............I got the dreaded smudge in the right hand bottom corner - not going to tell you what I said but it wasn't nice!  So that's why the gems are there - I wasn't planning to put any on this card but you need to do what you need to do!

My second card was very quick and easy.  I die cut the window using my Cheery Lyn Window A die and added some pretty paper behind.  The sentiment is an old one by Whispers stamped in SU Tempting Turquoise as is the butterfly (SU Papillion Potpourri), which was punched with my SU matching punch.  I then added a little bit of glitter to the butterfly.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More - Week 110 One Layer

Popping by on this extremely cold Tuesday afternoon - we've had a few flurries of snow but nothing to speak about.  We've just got back from a long weekend in Bradford on Avon - had a great time but wish the weather had been warmer!!!  It definitely wasn't the weather to be ambling alongside the Kennet and Avon canal that's for sure............

Anyway, as I hadn't managed to enter last weeks challenge over at Less is More thought I should make an effort this week.  When I popped over to see what the theme was this is what I found:

It's a really tricky one this week girls!
Not only is it
ONE LAYER
but we are also asking you for
SPOTS and STRIPES
If we could use papers it would be easy, right?
We know you'll come up with some fabulous designs and are really looking forward to seeing what appears.

Oh come on Chrissie & Jen - spots AND stripes.......honestly girls!  Had a think about it and discarded  a few ideas and then went hunting around my stamps to see if I had anything suitable.  And I stumbled upon an uninked Stampin Up set called Rain or Shine which I thought would be perfect.

I've used a 6" square white card blank and stamped the umbrellas in Stampin up Real Red, More Mustard and Pacific Point.  I then added the handles in the matching colours.........only after I thought why didn't I just stamp the umbrella and handle at the same time!!!  At least I managed to get them lined up okay.  The sentiment was stamped in SU Pacific point and the raindrops in Tempting Turquoise.  I've put drops of Glossy Accents over the raindrops but don't think you can see this in the photo.  Now I'm pretty sure I will get a telling off from Chrissie but I just HAD to add these tiny bows - it just needed something.

Thanks for popping over - stay warm and safe.

Addicted to CAS - Challenge #8 - WINGS

Happy Saturday everyone - hope you're enjoying the start to your weekend and are planning to join in the fun over at Addicted to CAS.  We continue to be amazed by all the wonderful entries we receive - you're certainly keeping us on our toes!

Our wonderful host for this challenge is Florence. Here is the code word that Florence chose -
This week we are sponsored by

CHRISTINE IS OFFERING OUR WINNER 3 RUBBER STAMPS FROM THE CC DESIGNS RANGE OR 5 DIGITAL STAMPS OR YOUR CHOICE AVAILABLE AT ALL THAT SCRAPS!!!

Here is a little about the wonderful Christine -

All That Scraps has been in business since 2007 started out of our garage. Now we have our own line of rubber stamps and dies. We create cuties galore, if you like cute you will love All That Scraps.

For my DT card I ummed and ahhed a bit and discarded some ideas and then came up with this:

I've used a parchment square pre-printed with watercoloured flowers - from my stash and I've had them ages so can't tell you where I got them from......... I've mounted it onto a scalloped square die cut which then was popped up onto a 6" square card blank.  I then fancied CAS(e)ing the amazingly talented Loll who made a copper maple leaf a couple of weeks ago - see her post here.  I punched the butterfly using a SU punch and then punched the tiny dragonflies using a small Dovecraft punch.  I then used my cooks blow torch on them to change the colours - but if you try this be careful because (a) they get very hot and (b) it turns colour very quickly............ so little bits of heat at a time is best.  The sentiment is Stampin Up inked with Pumpkin Pie.
Our sister blog at Addicted to Stamps and More is also looking for a CAS card this week, anything so long as its CAS so you have two chances!

Thanks for dropping by.  We can't wait to see what you come up with.  Happy crafting.

Special Anniversary

Just a quick post today.  Thought I'd show you a special card I was asked to make for a couple who have been married for 10 years.  They are going to St Lucia to celebrate!!!  Lucky people eh?

Front of the box card
Inside of the box card

Top of the main box
Close up of flowers

I decided to make a concertina box card and matching box for them.  You can look at the instructions here.  I must admit I like doing these as they give that visual "wow" and everyone I've done one for loves them.  The main wording in the box was sourced from the internet and I thought was lovely and would do for both weddings and anniversaries - here it is if you would like to use it:

When the one whose hand you're holding
Is the one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start,
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight,
And the things you plan together
Make the whole world seem just right,
When the one whom you believe in
puts their faith and trust in you,
You've found the one and only love
You'll share your whole life through.

The wording on the left hand side was given to me by the parents of the couple.  There was very nearly a disaster at the end as they had given me the wrong date!!!!    Eeeeekkkkk!!!!!  Anyway I was able to print out a new date, cut it with my SU label punch and add it over the top of the old date - in actual fact I think serendipity was working again as I think it was "meant"!!!

Thanks for dropping by.  Please remember to pop in tomorrow for our newest challenge over at Addicted to CAS.
