Less is More - Week 60 - 2nd card

Hello everyone in Blogland - yet another glorious day but I've been ploughing through the parish accounts as I've got to present the end of year accounts to the parish meeting on Monday (yawn)!!!  So to take my mind over figures I thought I'd do another quick card for the LIM challenge which is a Recipe where you can choose any three past challenges to make your card.

For this one I've done one of my favourite things so I've chosen Week 14 White on White, Week 16 Butterflies, Week 17 Pick a Square and lastly Week 43 Bit of Bling.............. couldn't resist!!!  lol   I've taken a square white card blank, cut a mat out of white pearlised card (Anna-Marie Designs) and then used my Stampin Up Embosslits Beautiful Wings to die cut and emboss (oh, that can also count in Week 15 Embossing.........) these lovely butterflies.  I used Pinflair to attach to my card  with one just going off the edge.  The bit of bling is some gems.

Thanks for dropping by and hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Yet another 18th birthday card

Following on from the saga of making 18th birthday cards a little while ago I got another call from the same people saying could I make yet another!!!!  Seemingly the grandmother had seen the others and asked if I could make one from her...............  Unfortunately all the information I had to go on was that she was a college student into art and drama and seeing I had covered that in the last card I went off on a different tack this time.  I've used CraftArtist for the whole card in combination with the new Steampunk range of Digikits.  On the backing paper I have faded in a photo of Gabbie together with some text.  Everything else was printed out separately and then decoupaged and touched up with Diamond Glaze where needed.  The addition of some lace, flowers, a metal corner and gems finished the card off.  Hope she likes it.

See you soon.

Less is More - Week 60 - Take Three Challenges

Hello Everyone - hope you're all enjoying this glorious weather.  The challenge this week over at Less is More is to

Take Three Challenges
For this challenge we'd like you to choose any three of our past challenges and combine the criteria from them on your card.

I have chosen  Week 8 - Tall Card Sketch 1, Week 9 - A Touch of Red and Week 7 - Masculine.  I've taken the sketch  and turned it on it's side and stamped the car which is from  Creative Expressions Classic Cars set using black Memento.  I then used Promarkers to colour it in.  I cut a strip of pearlised card and embossed lines on it using my Houghie Board.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set punched using Stampin Up punches and layered onto a red mat.

 Thanks for dropping by.

Gifts for my great nephew

As I mentioned we went down to Portsmouth to see my new great nephew Charlie who is absolutely gorgeous!!! lol  I made a couple of gifts to take down; one for him and one for his parents, Keir & Lara.

The first is the teddy bear I made a while ago - couldn't think of a more deserving home and, although it was a bit of a wrench, I handed him over into the safe care of Charlie complete with label saying "I belong to Charlie Nolan".  The other gift was a box frame with images of Keir, Lara and Charlie which I created on CraftArtist using steam punk graphics and then added flowers, pewter frames that I'd die cut and embossed and a magnifying lens.  His name was made of chipboard which I covered with paper and then glazed with Diamond Glaze and attached to the front of the frame - glad his name wasn't any longer as it just fitted on beautifully!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend enjoying this glorious weather.

Less is More - Week 59 - Theme - Masking

Hello Everyone - a quick post today as I'm off down to Portsmouth in a minute to meet my new great nephew Charlie.

This weeks challenge over at Less is More is Masking and my immediate thoughts turned to my JudiKins stamps - African Safari and Square Postage Frame.  I stamped the frame onto an off white pearlescent card and onto a piece of copy paper.  I then cut out the centre of the frame on the copy paper to use as a mask and also punched out a circle for the sun.  I inked up my brayer with Big & Juicy Foliage ink to give the background colour.  When it was dry I then inked up my African Safari stamp with Versafine ink and stamped into the frame.  I then cut out another mask for the whole frame, placed it on the card and then used an ornate swirl (unfortunately as it's a clear stamp and there's no name anywhere I can't remember where I got it from.......).  I inked this up with the Foliage inkpad and stamped over the masked frame.  The finishing touch was the sentiment which is by Hobby Art.

 Thanks for dropping by.

And here's the other one!!!

I promised to post the second card that I had made and sent to my sister congratulating her and Jim her husband on the birth of their first grandson.  However, as I hadn't heard if she'd received it I delayed posting!!!

The card was made using CraftArtist with some of the items being printed out separately and decoupaged.  Lots of flowers and ribbon plus some hatpins and metal corners completed the card.

Thanks for dropping by.

It's a boy...........

Well, for those of you who check out my sister Val's blog you will know that we have a new addition to the family in the form of baby Charlie who arrived safely on Saturday weighing 7lbs 10oz.  Mother, baby and father all okay!!!!  lol

I have made two new baby cards, one of which is here - I will post the other later in the week.

I have used the gorgeous digi stamp from Sugar Nellie called Bambino.  I coloured him in using Flexmarkers and then got my sewing machine out to stitch the image onto backing card.  I then pieced the backing card together (from my stash) and stitched that as well.  Then this was put onto an 8x8 card blank.  The sentiments were computer generated on CraftArtist; the top one punched out and matted using Stampin Up punches and the bottom one used Spellbinders Ornate Frames - the cut outs from the sides I added to the top and bottom of the frame for a different look.  I've added gems, flowers, hat pins and ribbon and the last touch were two baby feet punched out using a Dovecraft punch.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More - Week 58 - One Layer Script

This week the challenge over at Less is More is

Script
This includes any text, not just handwritten styles, but must be in addition to any sentiment you might decide to add.
If you have no suitable stamps, you could always resort to your own handwriting (Shock Horror!).

Well, luckily I didn't have to resort to using my own handwriting (thank goodness!!!).  All the stamps I've used are Stampin Up and include En Francais,  Four Frames and Pocket Silhouettes.  I started off stamping the frame off centre on the card blank using DI Dusty Concorde.  I punched out a mask using the SU frame punch and placed this over the stamped frame.  I then inked up the En Francais stamp with SU Orchid Opulence and placed this over the frame on the left hand side of the card.  The sentiment is from Pocket Silhouettes.  I then added 3 gems.

Thanks for visiting - all your comments are very much appreciated.

Quick post..........

I decided to take a quick break from making wedding stationery to make another LIM card which will fit both the Less is More colour challenge and also the Simplicity challenge One Layer Wednesday Swirly Fun.

I stamped the Medallion Stampin Up stamp half off the page using Versafine Vintage Sepia.  I made sure it had dried thoroughly before stamping an ornate swirl in DI Walnut Stain and then clear embossing the swirl.  I'm not sure where I got the stamp but it's part of a clear set with no name on it.  I added clear gems to the swirls (not sure it shows up too much) before stamping and embossing the sentiment which is from Hobby Arts.

Thanks for dropping by - have a great crafty weekend.

Mea Culpa!!!! Less is More - card 2

Hello fellow bloggers - I decided I had to do another card for the Less is More challenge as on the last one I didn't have any white at all!!!!!  Sorry Mandi & Chrissie..............  This time I've used a white linen card blank and used two borders die cut with my Memory Box Valerian Flourish die.  I then die cut an elongated label from the same cardstock which was actually an XXL die but it's quite easy to use it to cut a much smaller piece.  The sentiment is from my Xyron Design Runner and the butterflies are from the lovely Stampin Up embosslits Beautiful Wings.  All that it needed was some brown and white gingham (yee ha........) ribbon.

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment - it's very much appreciated.

Less is More - Week 57 - Colour

Hello everyone.  This week's colour challenge over at Less is More is

 NEUTRALS
This could be anything from off white to black with any shade of beige, brown or grey in between.

For this I decided to use some kraft card from Anna-Marie Designs and made up a 6"x6" card blank.  I used a Versamark inkpad to stamp butterflies from my Lost Coast Designs Butterflies Set 8.00.  I then cut out four borders using my Memory Box Tessatina Border die which is so delicate (and if anyone can come up with a use for all the "waste" which is too pretty to throw away I would love it hear from you!!!)  I added a touch of glue to each corner and made up a box frame which I then put on the card.  I stamped the largest butterfly in Versamark and embossed with copper e/p.  The frame and sentiment is from Stampin Up Vintage Labels set, again stamped and embossed with the copper e/p and cut out using the SU scalloped frame punch.  I then added some copper gems.
