..........................................A crafting blog for all those "happy accidents"
As I was a bit short of time I looked at what was on my desk and I just happened to have a piece of card embossed with the Sizzix embossing folder I used in my last post. I mounted this on a copper pearlised card. I've added a charm butterfly and a heart (which says Hand made with Love) dangling from some bakers' twine. The centre strip is punched from a Martha Stewart deep edge punch but can't remember the name. I do wish they'd put the names on these as I always have good intentions of writing the design name on but nearly always forget!!! lol
Just a quick post today as I've been busy doing housework getting ready for friends coming to stay tomorrow for the week - I know what I'd rather be doing!!! lol
Just thought I'd post some of the cards I made to be used as samples at our club night this week. The first project was teaching them how to use stamps and masking techniques and the second was pricking using a template.
If you've been over to Anne's blog you will have seen the card she posted using the Stampin Up motorbike - so you can see how similar our two cards are! Strangely we don't tell each other what we are doing so it is a surprise on the night........
I decided to use a die by Lea'bilities called Frame Swirl - I hope it counts as a shade of green because that's exactly the colour of the die!!! lol Originally I was just going to use the actual frame but really liked the negative shape from the centre so decided to put them together. The flower is made using my Xcut Botanical embossing punch and it has a brad through the centre. The leaves are made by using my Nellie Snellen two part punch and embosser. The sentiment is from my Stampin Up set "Punch Bunch" and it was stamped using Peeled Paint DI and clear embossed.
Aren't they gorgeous colours? I've had this Memory Box stamp and die for quite a while but haven't had the chance to use it yet. I stamped the Chrysanthemum Frame onto cream card using Memento ink in Bamboo Leaves, Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo Black and coloured using Flexmarkers. I then cut a negative mask which basically just masked off the borders and flowers and sponged over Old Paper DI to add some depth. I wanted to mat the main frame image so cut it out using scissors and then die cut a mat in pearlised green card using Memory Box Blank Ticket die. I then stamped out the flowers and coloured them so I could add dimension by decoupaging them. The swirl border is also a Memory Box die. The sentiment is from my Stampin Up Always Elegant set stamped onto matching cream card, matted onto green pearl card and punched out using my EK Success label punch.
I am delighted to say that I have now finished all the wedding invitations, place cards, orders of service etc etc. This is the first time I've undertaken such a big order and if I don't see another piece of tartan ribbon in my life I won't be sorry!!!! lol There were several different components to this so we had the main invitation which was done on an 8" x 16" card, folded in half and then the front half folded back on itself. There was a partial die cut on the other side of the card which holds everything together; there are the evening invitations which were simple in comparison; then the Order of Service on an A5 card with a double die cut on the front. They also have RSVP cards and envelopes and place cards (tent fold card with die cut on front) for the wedding breakfast - the only thing left to do now when I get the names. All the printing for the invitations has been foiled. At times it seemed like a production line. I know some people like doing batch card making but I don't think I will be doing this again in a hurry!!! Anyway, as long as they are pleased that's all that matters......... plus I'm hoping to get one of the invitations back!
