Triple Heart Easel card

Hello everyone

It's pretty cold and damp down here in Somerset but just got back from a lovely lunch with two of my crafting buddies.

The other day my friend Martine of Ab Fab Designs posted a lovely triple easel card she'd made and I was so taken by it I just had to CAS(e) it.

I needed to make a birthday card for my friend and neighbour Inga so decided to have a go at the triple easel card.  I didn't have the Little B heart dies that Martine used (which are larger) but decided to use my Spellbinders Hearts and Scalloped Hearts dies.  Here's what I came up with:

Each heart is a separate card and all three get joined together at the end.  It's really clever as the largest heart clips into the middle heart and the middle one goes into the smallest one, so all you need to do is make a "stop" for the front heart.  All the flowers and pearls are from my stash as was the paper.  The alphabet dies are Tattered Lace Elegant Alphabet and the Happy Birthday is Elizabeth Craft Designs 717 Happy Birthday - both cut out of blue mirri card.

Now I thought I'd share something with you all.  There was a Papertrey die I really wanted........it was $3 but the only place you can buy these dies is from Papertrey directly.  Unfortunately their shipping costs are pretty high but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do eh?  Very quick service - the die arrived this afternoon.  Now I know why the PTI cost of shipping is so high - take a look at these photos and let me know what you think!!!!

Excitement.......a big parcel from the USA!!!

What?????  All there is in here is paper packing!

Oh, here it is.......one wafer thin die in an envelope measuring 3.5" x 5"!

Crazy or what!!!!!!!!

Happy crafting.

  8. I agree with you Karen about PTI, I live in Australia and have encountered the same problem, you either pay the postage on one small item or wait months until you have a big enough order that you can justify the postage rate.Surely there must be a fairer way, because they do have great products.

  9. Wow that is an elaborate card and really pretty - I'm sure your friend just loved it. That certainly seems like OTT packaging for something so small and flat. Pleased to hear you enjoyed a crafty lunch.

  10. Your card for Inga is sooooo very, very beautiful, Karen - oh I love all the yummy embellies you've got on there ...all the lovely flowers, the pearls, the cameo, the butterfly, the beautiful patterned paper ..all put together in such a stunning way!!!! Inga will definitely love this card as much as I do!!!!!
Oh, boy, tell me about shipping costs being very, very high ...sigh!!! Same problem here in South Africa - shipping is much more than your order!!! And as you say ...a girl's got to have what a girl wants, hey, so once in a while you just have to order stuff you can't live without anymore and pay for the shipping!!! Hope you are going to have much fun with your new die - I would have packed up laughing opening that box!!!! ...at least it's a handy box, hey - can be used to store a lot of dies!!!!
    Have fun crafting, Karen!!!!

  11. Ok, seriously, that packing is not in the least funny. It's wasteful and ridiculous. Did you communicate with PTI and send them pictures or a link to this blog? I hope so. And listen, it will take a bit longer, but the next time you want something like that, let me know. I will order it for you and then send the wee bitty thing to you inside an A2 card for one international stamp that costs $1.23!! I really thought PTI had more sense than that! It's cray-cray.

Now let's talk about something that is also cray-cray, but from the other side of the spectrum. Karendipity, your triple easel card is cray-cray incredibly spectacular!! Surely, it's a wall hanging?! It's really breathtaking! I came in to this post this morning through the front door and saw that you had posted a tutorial! What a tremendous amount of work to make, and what a tremendous amount of work to take all those photos and write your post. Thank you so much for your generosity in doing that! I hope you're having a great day!! Hugs, Dippy

  12. Hope that die was worth it! Do we praise them for packing so carefully or cuss them for charging such an amount?
Love your heart card - gorgeous use of flowers and such like - guess your friend was special to receive that one.
So glad to hear you have been out and about with crafting friends - must mean you are feeling bright as a button which is good to hear.
    Sending love and everything else
    Hugs, Neet xxx

  13. I can so relate on the PTI stuff, Karen ... I have a very long wish list and wait till there's enough on it to justify the shipping ... trouble is, the goodies I want (need!) are never in stock at the same time ... oh well, I'm practicing my patience! Amazing card, so much dimension and detailing, I'm sure Inga will have loved it! Anita :)
