For my card I decided to use my Hobby Arts "Small Parts" stamp - I think it's so cute with the polar bears and penguins. I stamped it onto white card and then paper pieced the letters which had Diamond Glaze on them after I'd attached them to the main image. The little colouring was done with Flexmarkers.....really just a touch of a blue grey and some yellow for feet and beaks.
I made a stepper card for a change. Now I know these are easy to make but how often have you done one and been a fraction off with your measuring or cutting and ruined the whole thing??? So when I saw that Cheery Lyn had actually released a die that cut not only the main card but also all the panels I did a little happy dance! I've not seen it over here and actually bought it from the States - which was probably no more expensive than if I'd bought it here. It always amazes me that the US$ price actually turns into the same thing in £'s................hmm like over twice as expensive right?
Anyway, the main card is a red base with the panels cut from papers in my stash. For the centre piece I embossed a piece of white card with a Cuttlebug icicle e/f and added a ribbon before adhering the main panel. The bottom has been shaped with a Fiskars border punch, as has the paper panel.
As this card also fits the Completely Christmas Challenge #5 Anything Goes I will be entering my card there.
Thanks for dropping by - hope you're having a great weekend.
fab card Karen - love the image and card shape is fab - not done one of these for a long time! Big Hugs rachel xx
ReplyDeleteGreat stamp used here Karen and a great card too. I love stepper cards but as you say it so easy to be slightly off with a measurement or fold in the wrong place.... Love the red stepper anyway. Certainly fits our cute theme. Hugs Christine.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that stamp, Karen. Having a fancy cut border is a clever idea. Truth be told, I didn't realise you were off on the measurements. I thought it was a clever design twist! Have a lovely Sunday!

ReplyDeleteYour image is really cte and paper piecing the letters was a great idea. I can imagine how they must shimmer with your coating of gleam on them!
Fab stepper card Karen and really cute as well! nailed the challenge huggles Sue x
ReplyDeleteFabulous cute card Karen and a nice change to see a different shaped card. We all tend to stick to square ones as they are quick and easy but this die sounds like a great buy.

ReplyDeleteGreat Christmas card - dies certainly do make like easier for us don't they!!
ReplyDeleteDo like this one Karen - I am soooo stuffy when it comes to my cards 'cos I rarely do different ones eg stepper etc and I really must have a go, This one is gorgeous, I particularly like the paper pieced NOEL, it stands out really well. Fabulous card.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Christine H I have now managed to become your latest follower - thank goodness for blogging pals and their advice!!!
Hugs to you Sue Pxxx
Hi Karen, I am having a giggle because I know what is publishing on my blog tomorrow lol! I don't find step cards easy to create because I'm useless at the measuring and scoring. However this is gorgeous and the image is so very cute, another stunning card Karen x
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I don't find step cards easy to create either, and I have a Stamp Dr. step card die! Still get those measurements off a tad. You did a fab job on this one, and I'm lovin' the bright bold colors. Very cute image, well executed design, and a delicious fold! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteI love making stepper cards but you do have to think twice before you make the folds!! This is a lovely shape and your pile of animals are cuties. Sorry for delay in commenting. Blogger is not being very helpful at the moment. Really enjoyed joining in this time at CCC. Hugs Mrs A. (Valery).
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll try number four! I get two sentences in and your blog has a seizure and settles down with the comment box empty. Has anyone else mentioned this? It's been going on for a long time. I had it happen on one other blog and the lady took off those animated things on the side bar (but they are SO cute!) and the problem stopped. Anyway, try number four seems to be working. I thought I would mention it because I would want someone to let me know. People might get frustrated and just not leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteOkay, down to the FUN. This image is another new one to me and I think it is so darn cute!! I've never tried one of those stepper cards even though I've heard they are easy (they don't look easy!), so now that's exciting to know there is a die. Eek. You are really enabling me here!! Hope your week has been good. I hope to get crafty today. Yesterday was ALL day on Blogger crap. One of my posts totally disappeared. How does that happen?? Hugs, Dippy
Fab center step card and love that fun image. Thanks for sharing with us at Completely Christmas Challenge this week. Hope to see you again.

Hi, Karen, hope you're well!!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy I have been so busy knitting and crocheting these last two weeks I did not spend time at my computer, so I am way behind with blogvisits and attending to e-mails!!! But I'm here now to enjoy what you have done these last two weeks!!
Your stepper card is absolutely stunning and I love the sweet little bears and penguins!! Great idea to paper piece your letters and to keep the colouring to a minimum. Beautiful bow as well. I love the bright red you've used with the white. This is really beautiful!!
what a cute card!! I love the dimension and design of this one :)
